Justin Bieber Vs. Selena Gomez: Fans Take Sides After 'Letterman' Dis

Beliebers strike back after Gomez makes a joke to 'Late Show' host David Letterman about bringing her ex-boyfriend to tears.

It was the David Letterman interview heard around the world. When Selena Gomez stopped by "The Late Show" earlier this week, the "Spring Breakers" star teased that just like Letterman before, she too had made her ex Justin Bieber cry.
While the audience, and Letterman, found her light-hearted jab pretty funny, not long after her comment went viral, Beliebers hit back. (Both Bieber and Selena have confirmed that they officially split earlier this year.)
"Sorry @selenagomez but @justinbieber is respectful and his parents raised him right. He would never embarrass you on National Television," @Misoow18 Mar tweeted in response to her sassy wisecrack. @flyonbieber wrote, "@selenagomez sorry but you lost all of my respect. But wait I can't lose what I never had for you."
The onslaught of anti-Selena messages hardly ended there. @iovorauhl added, "@selenagomez you forget that you started your career by hopping around with a purple dinosaur." For those unaware of the reference, Gomez was a child star on "Barney" along with Demi Lovato.
But in a sea of anti-Selena comments, her supporters came out and offered up their own take on the incident. ‏@emmashortt_1m wrote, "To be honest, I still like Selena Gomez. Yes, what she said was mean but she's human."
One MTV News reader, Bill, was also pro-Selena in the aftermath of her comment, writing, "This all seems pretty simple and up front to me. She is a young woman and quite mature. He is still a little boy with lots of money, but still a little boy, just the same."
Other fans, like @TeamGomezHomie4m, seemed ready to move on from the incident. "Life is too short, laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly. @selenagomez I LOVE You," the fan wrote, while @Ohflirtybieber9m noted, "You guys are always my idols no matter what happens @justinbieber @selenagomez #promise."

Katy Perry And John Mayer Break Up

Reports say the hot 'n' cold pair, dating on and off since June, have called it quits again.

After dating on and off since last summer, John Mayer and Katy Perry have broken up again, People reports.
"It's sad," a source told Us Weekly. "It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out." In what is becoming the de facto Hollywood response, another source blamed the couple's busy schedules, saying, "She's leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work."
First spotted together last June, John and Katy called it quits back in August. That was short-lived, however, as the duo were seen smooching it up at awards shows and restaurants around Los Angeles the next month.
Just last month, the seemingly happy couple was spotted together at the Grammys, with Perry even revealing to our own Sway that her "boyfriend" introduced her to the smooth sounds of Miguel.
Mayer has left a slew of starlets in his wake in the past, including very public relationships with Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson. Perry, meanwhile, was married to Russell Brand for 14 months before they announced their divorce in 2011.
Perry and Mayer's camps haven't yet commented on the reported breakup.

Lil Wayne 'Truly Felt' Love During Hospital Stay

Tunechi tweets a thank you to his fans after his release.
Rapper Lil Wayne is feeling better and feeling the love. After a six-day hospital stay, he took to Twitter on Tuesday (March 19) to assure fans that all is well.
"I'm feeling a lot better and again thk u all for ur love and prayers. It was truly felt...pause," he wrote.
Weezy was admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital on Friday after a seizure. Multiple reports listed him in critical condition, but Wayne pulled through and was released on Monday.
Weezy's YMCMB cohort Birdman called into Hot 97's "Angie Martinez Show" on Monday and said he was present when Wayne had the seizure. He shot down rumors that "his son's" condition was drug related and also denied that there had been multiple seizures and multiple hospital trips.
"He had a seizure and we brought him to the hospital. We've been here ever since. But he's doin' much better and he's in good shape right now," the Cash Money CEO said.
Wayne's 10th solo LP, I Am Not a Human Being II, is a week away from its release. Despite being in the hospital, the "Love Me" rapper recently appeared in Mack Maine's uplifting "Celebrate" video. Tuesday, Nicki Minaj released behind-the-scenes footage of her upcoming "High School" video, starring a playful Weezy before his medical scare.

Justin Bieber Defended By Carly Rae Jepsen, Scooter Braun

Jepsen maintains Bieber is nothing but professional, as manager Scooter Braun insists he's in a 'great place' after a string of controversies.

After a string of controversies, which include a hospital visit after collapsing in concert and a paparazzi scuffle, Justin Bieber is doing better, according to his closest pals. Bieber's longtime manager, Scooter Braun, as well as his Believe tourmate, Carly Rae Jepsen, want Beliebers to know that despite some recent setbacks, Bieber is in "a great place."
Braun spoke to E! News on Monday, the same day his artist took the stage to a sold-out show in Portugal. "There's nothing wrong with him," he said, hoping to settle Justin's tabloid troubles. "He's in a great place."
Two days before Scooter spoke up for Bieber, MTV News chatted with Jepsen, who shared that Bieber has been a "trouper" throughout his recent struggles.
"If there's anybody who I think can pull off what it means to be a professional performer, it's Justin because, yeah, it was chaotic week, but he sang even when he was feeling kind of like light of breath and showed us that old saying 'The show must go on' is really true," the"Tonight I'm Getting Over You" singer told us on Saturday. "So, I'm proud of him."
In the days prior to Jepsen's comments, Bieber had his fair share of troubles. It kicked off on March 1 when was celebrating his 19th birthday. His party was cut short after some rumored drama in a London club that he later billed as his "worst birthday."
He later had to apologize for kicking off a London concert late. But, his problems hardly ended there. Last Thursday, he was admitted to the hospital after he collapsed in concert. After he was released, on Friday, he got into a verbal scuffle with the paparazzi.
And Jepsen understands how the pressure can get to you, noting that it's important to balance professional obligations with personal time.
She said, "Well, I think there are moments where you do feel very much like this is a day of heavy press or a day of show time. And that is a lot of sort of being right out there in the wide open. But there's also a lot of downtime. And luckily, I am touring with people who I consider my dearest friends, my bandmates, my brothers. And, the whole team that I'm traveling with are just good people, good hard-working people. So we get out downtime and lots of out of the limelight moments as well and that's when I'm really mischievous."
Meanwhile, Bieber has some time off in between gigs. His Tuesday (March 12) show in Portugal is cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances." Rumor has it that poor ticket sales contributed to the cancellation, but Braun insists that it wasn't the case.
Braun claims that the cancellation, which was supposedly scheduled long before it made headlines, was due to technical issues. "It has nothing to do with anything other than that," Braun added to E! "Tell everyone Justin is good, really good."
In addition to support from those in his immediate circle, Bieber has also gotten love from his pals in One Direction (later thanking them for their support) as well as Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Tell us what you think of Bieber's troubles in the comments!

Justin Timberlake Joins 'Saturday Night Live' Icons' Club

Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Andy Samberg andJay-Z support JT as he enters Five-Timers Club.

"Saturday Night Live" pulled out all the stops for Justin Timberlake's fifth stint as host, rallying a support crew bursting with the late-night staple's icons and JT's "Suit & Tie" buddy Jay-Z. After lamenting in his opening monologue that with the appearance, he risked "disappointing everyone due to overly high expectations — thanks, Internet," JT was ushered into the Five-Timers Club by a parade of comedy legends with whom he shares the honor, including Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks and Chevy Chase.
Guitar in hand, Paul Simon welcomed Timberlake to "the most-exclusive club in New York." A pipe-smoking Steve Martin joked, "I always thought if an 'NSYNC member made the Five-Timers Club, it would be Joey Fatone." Candice Bergen also donned a navy robe with a "5" crest, as former "SNL" castmembers Dan Aykroyd and Martin Short, who've not reached the hosting milestone, served as the club's bartender and waiter.
And, yes, Andy Samberg made an appearance, too. JT and his "Di-- in a Box" and "Motherlover" partner brought their raunchy R&B flavor to the TV game show "It's a Date!" The pair hilariously wooed the bachelorette — in song, of course — by inviting her to watch "Duck Tales" and crooning, "Ladies can't get pregnant in the summertime." When she chose the duoand the Festrunk Brothers (Aykroyd and Martin) as her dates, they declared, "We've had two ways, three ways, and we're about to have five/ 'Cause we're four wild and crazy guys."
The historic episode opened with JT as Elton John, paying tribute to recently deceased Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. Rocking a blonde wig and sequined blue suit, he proclaimed, "A gig is a gig." "Goodbye Hugo C." was full of gems, such as, "You lived your life like a candle in the wind/ If a candle could pull out two pistols at a press conference."
In his turn as musical guest, Timberlake previewed the first two singles from his third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, due March 19. For "Suit & Tie," he was joined by his Tennessee Kids band, four backup dancers and a blinged-out Jay-Z, sporting no less than four super-thick gold chains. Hova will join him on the road this July and August, when their Legends of the Summer Tour rolls into 12 U.S. stadiums.
The Three Amigos (Martin, Chase and Short), in full regalia, introduced"Mirrors," first performed a few weeks ago at the Brit Awards.
Of course, Timberlake wasn't going to let the standard two songs be the only singing he did Saturday night. In one sketch, he dressed as a piece of tofu to promote "Veganville" restaurant, touting healthy eating with enthusiastic remakes of the disco classic "Le Freak," "Ice Ice Baby" and "Dancing With Myself" ("Thinking About My Health") and an ode to quinoa, "We Found Love (In a Meatless Place)." The skit ended with a super wacky Harlem Shake freak-out.
JT has won several Creative Arts Emmy Awards for his past work on "SNL." In 2011, he took home the prize for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for his monologue as well as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Prior to that, in 2009, he took home the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, and in 2007, for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for "Di-- in a Box."
Timberlake will hang around 30 Rock: Deemed "Justin Timberweek," JT will be featured on all five episodes of "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" this week, beginning Monday.

Lil' Kim 'Just Now Getting Over' Notorious B.I.G's Death, 16 Years Later

Years after Biggie's March 9, 1997 death, Kim will celebrate for the first time.

The loss of the Notorious B.I.G. was tough for hip-hop, but while fans lost a legend, Lil' Kim lost a dear friend.
When the Queen Bee appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday, she fielded a question from Bun B, who lost his UGK partner in rhyme Pimp C back in 2007. "How was it dealing with the loss of Biggie for you in this industry," Bun asked Kim in a pre-taped video.
"Bun B, that's a very tough question because it took me so long — super long to deal with the loss of a person who was such a huge impact in my life," she said.
It Took Lil' Kim 'Super Long' To Deal With Biggie's Death
The Notorious B.I.G. was tragically murdered on March 9, 1997 and while his passing saddened the hip-hop community as a whole, each year, fans, DJs, club promoters and other artists acknowledge March 9 as a day of celebration for Big's life and music.
Kim first made her mark as a part of Biggie's Junior Mafia crew, and at one time, she carried on an intimate relationship with the fallen MC. On Saturday, Kim will celebrate, for the first time ever, at club Glazz in Queens, New York. "That's my first event ever on March 9 because I used to get offered events a lot and I said 'no,' " she said. "I never celebrate that day. It's so funny because I can always feel when that day is approaching. I get so depressed. I get so sad. It happens before March, in February. I can feel it coming and I used to all say 'no.'
"So to answer Bun B, I'm just now getting over that fact, and it's how many years later," she said.
How do you celebrate March 9? Let us know in the comments!

Justin Bieber Vs. The Paparazzi: This Isn't His First Run-In

Friday's blowup in London was latest in a number of incidents with aggressive photogs.

Justin Bieber had toget gangsta with a mouthy paparazzo in London on Friday, but it's hardly his first run-in with aggressive photogs.
From a high-speed chase to a physical altercation, Bieber has let the paparazzi "get the best of him" before. Here's a look at his previous dustups:
May 2012
Friday's incident didn't come to blows, but last year, Bieber was investigated for criminal battery. A photographer pressed charges after an alleged physical altercation broke out at a mall in Calabasas, California, where the singer lives. The camera man complained of pain in his upper torso and was actually taken to a hospital by ambulance.
July 2012
Then there was the time Bieber zoomed down the highway attempting to flee photographers, flying right by an irate L.A. city councilman. Justin was cited by police for driving 80 mph, but the politician said it was more like 100 mph.
"Bieber was driving like a maniac," Dennis Zine said at the time. "He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane ... If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship. He was a maniac." Bieber's manager Scooter Braun said even after the singer's car was pulled over, paparazzi resumed their chase and the star had to call the police for help.
January 2013
Though Justin wasn't directly involved with this one, on New Year's Day, a photographer was killed after taking a picture of a Ferrari he thought Bieber was sitting in. The singer wasn't even in the vehicle, and an SUV struck the photog as he walked across a busy Los Angeles street to return to his vehicle. The incident highlighted the dangerous lengths some paparazzi will go to get a shot of stars.
"Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves," Bieber said in a statement after the incident.
Bieber promised to use the adrenaline from Friday's showdown to give his London fans an amazing show on the fourth straight night of his BelieveTour at the O2 arena. After leaving the stage, he tweeted, "The press made things look nuts but really I have enjoyed London."
We're sure this one is to be continued ...

Taylor Swift's Right! Amy Poehler Is 'Going To Hell'

Amy Poehler knows there's "a special place in hell" for her, but not for the reasons that Taylor Swift referred to in her Vanity Fair cover story.
Hours after Swift's VF interview made waves, the "Parks and Recreation" star responded to the singer's retort about the jokes she made at the Golden Globes regarding Swift's highly publicized personal life.
Swift didn't seem to find Poehler and co-host Tina Fey's remarks about her love life very funny. Back in January, while the ladies emceed the star-studded event (Swift was in attendance), Fey joked that the singing superstar should stay away from Michael J. Fox's son, Sam who was on hand that night as Mr. Golden Globes. Poehler on the other hand, joked that she should "go for it." Fey also shared that she felt the singer should take herself off the dating scene and opt for some "me time."
In the April cover story, Swift didn't seem amused by any of it. "You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people," she said, in reference to their remarks. "Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, 'There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women'." (That Couric-referenced quote is actually something former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright originally said.)
So, how does Poehler feel about Swift's reaction? She told The Hollywood Reporter, "Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff."
In the same Vanity Fair sit-down, Swift addressed the public's perception of her, calling all the speculation "sexist." She said, "For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that's taking something that potentially should be celebrated — a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way — that's taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist."

Britney Spears 'So Excited' For Sister Jamie Lynn's Engagement

Jamie Lynn announced she's engaged to Jamie Watson on Sunday.

Britney Spears may not be planning to walk down the aisle anytime soon, but she is "excited" for her baby sister, Jamie Lynn, to do so.
The 21-year-old took to Twitter on Sunday to announce her engagement to 30-year-old Jamie Watson. She later posted close-up photo of the ring, sharing her enthusiasm for Watson's ring choice, tweeting, "#hedidgood."

Her big sister, Britney, couldn't contain her joy for her baby sister, taking to Twitter shortly after the news broke. She wrote, "So excited and happy for my sister, congrats @jamielynnspears - love you."
According to an interview Watson gave to the New York Post's Page Six column back in January, marriage has been in the cards for the on-again, off-again couple for some time now. "I think promise rings are dumb," he said of a previous sparkler he had gifted to Spears. "And Jamie Lynn doesn't care that much. She's not too picky."
Spears had previously been engaged to Casey Aldridge, the father of her4-year-old daughter, Maddie. As a teen, Spears was the star of her own Nickelodeon show, "Zoey 101," but is now hoping to follow in the footsteps of her big sister in the music business. She's working on a country album in Nashville when she's not in Kentwood, Louisiana, with her daughter.
While Jamie Lynn is now planning her wedding, Britney called off her engagement to longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick, back in January, when she also announced she wouldn't be returning to "The X Factor."

Justin Bieber Calls Out 'Dummies' For 'Worst B'Day' Ever

It had all the makings of the most epic 19th birthday
party ever. Justin Bieber had just finished a great show in Birmingham, England, on Thursday night and was going to celebrate with an b-day blowout
at a London nightclub on Friday.
"Big night ahead," he tweeted that morning. And then, inexplicably, less than 10 hours later, came the tweet retweeted 'round the world: "Worst birthday."
The circus-themed party at London's Cirque du Soir nightclub reportedly ended with a confrontation between Bieber's entourage, which prompted the singer and his crew to leave. Bieber took to Instagram on Sunday to explain what went wrong, blaming the club for messing up what should have been a fun night out with his pals.

"The funny moment when people believe I brought underage people to a club," he wrote, seemingly alluding to British reports that 14-year-old Jaden Smith and new crush, 17-year-old singer Ella-Paige Roberts Clark, were in his group.
"U think Will is letting his 14 year old in a club, I don't think so. 2nd I love how the club wanted to give the press another reason to why we didn't stay at their weak ass club so they wouldn't look bad for me walking in and right back out. I said m 'worst bday' but that was due to dummies pushing over my fans and being overly aggressive. Btw it wasn't the worst bday cuz all my friends from back home flew in I was just mad in the moment."
According to E! Online, security at the club thought some of the members of Bieber's entourage looked a bit young and refused them entry after they were asked to show ID.
"We, like all clubs in London, operate a strict age policy," a club spokesperson told the site. "As a few of the members of the party were under the suitable age of 18, the security team at Cirque Du Soir, London, clearly explained this rule and refused entry to the club for anyone who could not provide us with adequate proof of age."
An unnamed source told Entertainment Weekly, "There was never any mention of Jaden being there, so when he showed up, it caused problems. They could have stayed if Jaden left, but Justin wanted to be loyal to his good friend."
In the end, Bieber was philosophical about the whole thing, tweeting on Sunday evening, "Sometimes u just wanna vent and not be quiet. I love my fans though. Just gonna chill with friends. London shows this week." A short time later he added, "It ain't always easy but is what it is. Gonna stay focused."
Perhaps there was some good to come of all the commotion. According to a tweet from Buzzfeed's Andrew Kaczynski, the phrase "Worst Birthday" is now the third most re-tweeted tweet in the history of Twitter.

Mariah Carey Recruits Dream Producers For 2013 Album

Mariah Carey appears to have the dream producers to work with her on her next album.

The "American Idol" judge told Billboard she's enlisted the help of some of the biggest music makers, including pals like Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox as well as Hit-Boy, The-Dream, Big Jim Wright and Rodney Jerkins.
"It's about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that's the most important thing," the singer explained in the interview, adding that the album will have a "lot more raw ballads than people might expect."

The-Dream Reveals The 'Unwritten Rule' When Recording With Artists
She added, "Wherever we go with this project, I've tried to keep the soul and heart in it, with me obviously as the through-line."
She also plans to work with Q-Tip and DJ Cassidy at some point for this release, but isn't sure her 2012 single with Meek Mill and Rick Ross,"Triumphant," will make the final cut. "I was and still am in a very prolific space," she said. "I could say, 'Let's stop now.' But that's not who I am, and that's not what I want this record to be. I really want the fans to love this record."
She recently told Ryan Seacrest that she wants the album out "ASAP", but she hasn't firmed up any details for this latest release.
And don't think The-Dream will reveal any details. As a guest on "RapFix Live" this week, he remained pretty tight-lipped about his upcoming projects.
"It's so hard because on one hand, I'm really always anxious and excited about new music with everybody that I'm working with. On the other hand, they're always A-List, high-profile, so nobody really wants them to know," he said about the "unwritten rule" to keep quiet about high-profile projects. "So it's hard for me to actually explain what I'm working on, when it's coming."

Usher's Stepson Death Linked To Georgia Man

Jeffrey Hubbard was indicted on several charges following a 2012 Jet Ski accident that killed Usher's 11-year-old stepson.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the 2012 Jet Ski accident that killed Usher's 11-year-old stepson.
According to TMZ, Jeffrey Simon Hubbard was indicted on Thursday (February 28) by a Grand Jury in Hall County, Georgia on charges of Homicide by Vessel, Serious Injury by Vessel as well as Reckless Operation of a Vessel.
Hubbard allegedly ran over Usher's step son, Kile Glover, with his Jet Ski, while he and a second victim were floating in an inner tube in Georgia's Lake Lanier. Glover suffered traumatic head injuries that eventually led to the him being removed from support more than a two weeks after the accident.
Following the accident, police determined that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the accident, and Hubbard — who, according to several reports, was a friend of the Foster family — was not immediately charged with any crime. But now, he's being held without bail, and will reportedly be brought before a judge this weekend, when a decision will be made on whether he can be released on bail.
Glover was the son of Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and was vacationing with his father, TV executive Ryan Glover at the time of the accident. He was on July 27 in Atlanta, following a service attended by many high-profile members of the city's musical and political communities.

Justin Bieber, Ke$ha Get Birthday Party Advice From '21 And Over' Stars

What is Justin Bieber to do with a night off from his Believe Tour and a birthday to celebrate? Well, celebrate, obviously. And, who better to offer up some birthday party advice than the stars of "21 and Over," a movie all about living it up on your b-day.
Skylar Astin told Point Maza what decor he'd use for the fete: "Some old-school balloons, maybe some silly string. I don't know if there'll be enough time."
"You've got to have some bouncy castles," Miles Teller added.
These party planners had even more ideas up their sleeves. One might say it's their pop secret. "Popcorn stand, cotton candy machine," Justin Chon suggested, as Astin added, "I want different colored popcorn too, remember how they used to do that?"
Keeping in the tradition of their "Hangover"-type movie, Teller just really wants to have a good time with Bieber. "I would just get Justin Bieber all kinds of messed up," he said. "I just want to hang out with you, Justin."
Astin did note, however, they can keep the fun PG and age-appropriate. He shared, "You can drink water 'cause he's not legally allowed to drink yet."
Check out 7 exotic animals for Ke$ha's crazy, exotic life!
March 1 happens to be a big day for celebrity birthdays: The Biebs shares his born day with the always-glittering Ke$ha, who turned 26 on Friday. That news seemed to floor the trio.
"They said the world wasn't going to end," Teller joked. "You can't have all those things happening on one day."
Should the party-loving pop princess and Bieber decide to celebratetogether, the guys couldn't help but use the moment to plug their comedy, out Friday (March 1).
"I think they say that when Justin Bieber and Ke$ha go to a movie together, and it's a college movie, you officially enter the fifth element," Astin offered. "That's like when the Mayans take over the world."
"Justin Bieber, listen up: Go see our movie, bro. Bieb it," Teller suggested. "Obviously, if you really belieb it, I'm sorry, if you really believe it, it's a really funny movie, and you should go check it out

Chris Brown, Rihanna-Inspired 'Law & Order: SVU' Takes An Unexpected Twist

Star-studded 'Funny Valentine' episode serves as a cautionary tale for abusive relationships.

After a lot of buzz, the rumored Chris Brown and Rihanna-inspired "Law & Order: SVU" episode premiered on NBC Wednesday night. The episode is divided into two parts: the half that is inspired by their relationship and the half that turns it on its head.
Events were certainly based on the 2009 assault of the pop singer by Brown, but instead "Funny Valentine" veered on the absurd at times, thanks to unexpected cameos from a range of folks including Perez Hilton, Dave Navarro, Jeffrey Tambor, famed NYC news anchor Sue Simmons and Wendy Williams. And, in the end, it served as a cautionary tale of an abusive relationship.
It follows the relationship of two thinly veiled pop stars, Micha Green (Tiffany Robinson) and Caleb Bryant (Roca). The events of the story unravel after Caleb assaults Micha during a recording session after he's caught "getting trashy" with another girl.
When Micha speaks out, he violently beats her right there in the studio, hitting her and knocking her to the ground in front of their colleagues. Sure, these aren't mirror images of Brown and Rihanna, but nods are everywhere. Whereas the Rihanna/Brown incident took place during a private moment, in a car during Grammy weekend, this assault happens in front of many witnesses. Though, none are ever willing to speak about it.
Micha is rarely willing to take Caleb to court for his actions, often covering for him and continuing to date him throughout the highly-charged hour. While domestic abuse is nothing to laugh at, "SVU" does manage to sneak in tongue-in-cheek social commentary about the celebrity culture.
When it all seems a bit too familiar or referential (including a mention of the Barclays Center), "SVU" writers offer up a little wink and nod, letting viewers know they are on it as well. "They should go on a double date with Chris Brown and Rihanna," Detective Munch offers, mid-investigation.
The episode certainly does recall many of the aspects of the real-life case that inspired it, including the leak of Micha's police photos, a lovey-dovey ode recorded by the pair, an interview featuring a bow-tie clad Caleb during which he apologizes to Micha (giving off shades of the look Brown rocked on Larry King) and even a fresh piece of ink that looks a bit like Micha's battered face (an almost painfully obvious reference to a Brown's sugar skull tattoo).
Micha, still reluctant, can't even be moved to talk by her Hova-like mentor, Brass. But, he does try to protect her by calling the cops when Caleb shows up to a record release party. This is where the story takes a fictional spin, serving as a warning of what can go wrong.
Shots are fired shortly Caleb approaches him at the fete. When police arrive, she's on the ground unconscious and her mentor is dead. And when it seems that Micha is finally ready to turn Caleb in, it all falls apart when she gets on the stand. She tells a Grand Jury Caleb was never at the party even after she admitted he was the culprit. "I just repeated what you told me," she said. "I didn't see anything."
After all is said and done, Micha and Caleb jet off to Bermuda together for one last rendezvous. And that is when the episode took the most unexpected, darkest twist of the night. It ends with Caleb and Micha kissing, until he gets a text. He warns her "haven't you learned to mind your own business" after she asks him about it. That night, her body is found floating beside the boat they were staying in.
The episode premiered four years after Brown assaulted Rihanna during Grammy weekend. In the years since, the two have recorded several songs together and have since reconciled, addressing their current relationship status in the press (Brown over the weekend at an Oscars party to several outlets and Rihanna in Rolling Stone).

Diddy, Mark Wahlberg Launch Water For Those 'Play Hard' Nights

'I drank this water, I loved the way it tasted. It gave me a certain amount of energy,' says Diddy about AQUAhydrate.

Water, water everywhere, but who wants to drink plain old tap, right? Mark Wahlberg and Diddy want you to uncap some AQUAhydrate, which is like the old stuff, but a bit more ... jacked.
Point Maza caught up with the pair on Wednesday and Diddy said the drink has been a big part of him changing some lifelong bad habits. "I grew up a Kool-Aid kid, I would drink sodas, juices everything ... and never drank water because I didn't like the way it tasted," said Diddy at the announcement of his partnership with Wahlberg to help sell the drink touted as having a higher pH level than normal water.

Mark Wahlberg, Diddy Announce Aqua Hydrate Partnership

"I drank this water, I loved the way it tasted. It gave me a certain amount of energy, a certain amount of focus and helped me with my recovery for those nights where ... I do work hard, but it is a known fact that I do play hard," said Diddy. So, on those mornings when he needs a bit of recovery from the previous night's revelry, the globetrotting
producer/rapper/entrepreneur said AQUA is his secret weapon. While praising Diddy's business savvy, Wahlberg said both men bring their own history and expertise to the product. "What could do together?" said Wahlberg, hinting that the pair plan a number of other business ventures in the future. "We're better together, we're stronger together, we can draw more and get more eyeballs," added Diddy.
Don't get it twisted, though. They may be dedicated business partners working to get the word out about their latest venture, but Wahlberg copped to the fact that both like to run with the ball and score, not just facilitate.
The plan is to leverage the two star's popularity and media savvy to create a new line of water products with nutritional benefits for the company launched in 2004. Wahlberg said he drank it while he was filming "The Fighter" to keep himself ready for action and Combs, well, as the face of Ciroc vodka, he sometimes needs those performance grade electrolytes replenished.

Chris Brown Says He's 'Different' Now, Gets Embraced By Elton John

'I'm forgiven ... but, yes, I worked hard for it,' Brown says of his reconciliation with Rihanna.

It was strange enough to see Chris Brown mugging with Elton John at the British superstar's traditional Oscar watching party on Sunday night.
And it must have been even stranger for Breezy to be seated among the stars as host Seth MacFarlane made his cutting "date movie" joke at the expense of the 23-year-old singer during the show's opening monologue.
But perhaps even stranger is that Brown picked the John party as place to open up about how he's changed since the incident that has come to define his personal and professional lives in many people's minds: his 2009 assault on Rihanna.
Maybe the multiple news sources that approached Brown for comment caught the singer in a loose-lipped moment when his typically on-guard pose was down. (Strangely, though, none have offered up any video or audio of their talks and Brown's reps have not returned calls for confirmation of the quotes.)
Or maybe the feeling of acceptance among the glitterati merely inspired Brown to open up. Either way, the comments that emerged represent one of the first times the 23-year-old star has given a sense that he's grasped the enormity of that fateful night, or provided insight into his recent reconciliation with Rihanna.
"I've made mistakes and I made, you know, the biggest mistake of all of them on a night," Brown said according to Entertainment Weekly, whose writer described a scene where some other guests, "glowered ... turned away or folded their arms" as Brown passed by them.
"Things got out of hand. I was a kid and I didn't understand things going on in my head. I've grown a lot since then and I know things now I didn't get then. I know some people still talk about it but I'm the one who learned the lesson and I know I'm a different person now."
Rihanna didn't attend the party with on-again beau Brown, but she recently told
Rolling Stone in a cover story that she's decided that it was more important for her to be happy than to worry about what people think of their reunion. "He doesn't have the luxury of f---ing up again," she said. "That's just not an option."
Brown confirmed the pair were on good terms, telling the New York Post,"we are really happy ... we are back together. She is the most beautiful girl in the world."
He also reportedly spoke to England's Daily Mirror, calling the 2009 assault the "deepest regret" of his life, adding, "but she loves me -- what can I say? I'm forgiven ... but, yes, I worked hard for it." He added that he's grown up a lot since that night. "I was very young," he said. "And I took a lot of stuff, fame, for granted."
As for how Brown — who recently scuffled
with singer Frank Ocean in an incident in which someone in Brown's crew reportedly used a homophobic slur against the Odd Future crooner — ended up at the AIDS-benefit party thrown by the openly gay John, Brown said he was personally invited by Elton. "I met Elton about a year ago," he told the Post. "And he's been a good friend to me."
John, you might recall, famously embraced Eminem after the rapper was criticized for his homophobic lyrics at the beginning of the millennium. He also helped Slim Shady make it through a nearly fatal drug addiction
years after the two performed together at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
The flamboyant British piano man seems to have done the same with Brown, taking the sometimes unpredictable singer under his wing, mugging in pictures with him at the party and, perhaps, offering him some advice on how to survive the glare of the media.
"I remember what Elton did that time," Brown said of the unforgettable Elton/Eminem Grammy moment. "I think he does what he thinks is right and finding the positive while a lot of other people focus on the negative. A lot of people say one thing but, you know, they don't let things go, either."
At one point, EW reported that John chaperoned Brown over to a high-roller table anchored by Bono, Steven Tyler, Quincy Jones and Jim Carrey.
"It was an honor for him to personally invite me and it's a blessing to be here," said Brown. "This is a great event to raise money and awareness about AIDS [promotes the message that] people with HIV are people too, there shouldn't be discrimination against them or any discrepancy or any fear about being around them. At the end of the day, I'm not homophobic in any way and I don't focus on the negative that people bring to it."

Trayvon Martin's Death Still Haunts Hip-Hop, One Year Later

'The obvious point is that this young man lost his life from an unjust situation, and it needs to be hammered home,
It's been a year since Trayvon Martin's tragic death, and the case of the unarmed, African-American Florida teen who was gunned down by a then-28-year-old George Zimmerman is just as polarizing 365 days later.
Zimmerman is claiming self-defense in the face of the second-degree murder charge, for which he will stand trial later this summer, but Public Enemy co-founder and political activist Chuck D isn't so confident that the outcome will ease the pain.
"I'm pretty much not the one to be told that a trial is going to make everybody feel straight and clear," Chuck said when he and his wife, Professor Gaye Theresa Johnson, appeared on CNN's "Newsroom" on Tuesday morning (February 26).

Hip-Hop Community Pays Tribute To Trayvon Martin
On February 26, 2012, Martin was shot dead by Zimmerman as he walked through a gated Sanford, Florida, community. Zimmerman believed Martin — who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt — looked suspicious, so he called 911. The police dispatcher advised Zimmerman not to pursue the teen, but he reportedly ignored those instructions. By the time police arrived on the scene, Martin was dead. Although Zimmerman admitted to the shooting, police declined to arrest him citing the state's "Stand Your Ground" law, which allows a person to kill in cases of self-defense. Zimmerman was eventually arrested, however, and charged.
On Tuesday night, Martin's family will hold a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. in New York's Union Square Park.
The racial component in the case has been the biggest point of contention, even though not much has been made of Zimmerman's Hispanic background. Still, Professor Johnson, like many, tried to take the conversation past the black-and-white aspect. "We're talking about a grown armed man who shot an unarmed child, regardless of race," she pointed out. "What is it about a young black boy with a hoodie on that makes everybody feel threatened?"
"I'm hopeful that justice will finally be served, but just the time frame that's been on it and the way they went about handling this case, it doesn't seem as if it's going to fare well," Atlanta rapper Pill contended. "I don't know what the hell type of law protects somebody that chases after an unarmed teenager and fights and kills him, but if there is a law that protects against that, then we're all doomed."
Chuck D blames a collapsing infrastructure in society and argues that the Trayvon case falls in line with what has been going on with black youth for years. "The obvious point is that this young man lost his life from an unjust situation, and it needs to be hammered home. That's bottom line."
Over the past year, the hip-hop community has been very vocal regarding Trayvon's death. Young Jeezy told us he has a son who was the same age as Martin, so it made him think about home. "Everybody that's black and young ain't up to no good," he argued.
Game, like Chuck D, pointed to the history of injustice that black youth have faced in America. "For some reason, people don't think that they need any excuse to kill us, beat us, hit us, run us over, disrespect us or anything like that," he said. "This is just another reminder that stupidity still exists."

Wiz Khalifa And Amber Rose Get Baby Bash Advice From Snooki

Wiz Khalifa and fiancée Amber Rose welcomed their first child, a baby boy dubbed Sebastian, into the world on Thursday. And with less than a week under their belts as newbie parents, they might be looking to a more experienced mom for some parental wisdom.
MTV enlisted Snooki to share with them her experiences of being a first-time mom to her son, Lorenzo. "Wiz and Amber are going to be so surprised to find out how much they actually love their baby. Like, yeah, you're going to love your baby a lot, but I never knew how much I would actually love a human being and I'm just obsessed with Lorenzo," she said. "So they are going to be so obsessed with their baby."
Snooki Dreams Up Baby Night With New Parents Amber Rose And Wiz Khalifa
Snooki has no doubt that Amber is "going to be a great mom," and if Wiz is wondering how he might be able to help her out, Snooki suggests "watching the baby when Amber wants to get her hair done and get her nails done or even just like put on a nice outfit and do her makeup. That's what I love best when Jionni takes Lorenzo for a little bit so I can get dolled up and just feel pretty 'cause I think that's the best thing for us new moms. We need to feel pretty."
Once prettied up, Snooki would be down to chill with Wiz and Amber. So, what would that double date look like? "I think that if me, Jionni and Lorenzo all hung out with Amber and Wiz and their new baby Sebastian, I think we would just all be hanging in on a Friday night instead of going out and partying," she shared. "Just hanging with our babies and just watching cartoons and just talking about how amazing it is to be parents."

Rihanna, Chris Brown Inspired 'SVU'? You Be The Judge With Exclusive Preview!

MTV News has an exclusive first look at Wednesday's episode, which is rumored to be based on Brown's 2009 assault of Rihanna."

Law & Order: SVU" writers have frequently ripped storylines right from the headlines, but they may have taken some cues from the gossip pages for this week's episode. Dubbed "Funny Valentine," Wednesday's episode follows "a familiar story of two celebrities intertwined by abuse."

After a trailer for the episode was released last week, many have deduced that the episode is heavily inspired by Chris Brown's assault of girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
Ahead of this week's premiere, MTV News has an exclusive first look at a clip from the buzzed-about episode. The clip features Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) trying to persuade a female pop singer, Micha Green, (Tiffany Robinson) to press charges against her pop star boyfriend, Caleb Bryant (Roca), after he assaults her. But, she refuses to be portrayed as a "victim" and take it to trial. The episode also includes cameos from Perez Hilton, Dave Navarro and Wendy Williams.
Whether or not the episode has been inspired by Brown and Rihanna will be left up to fans, but after spending several years apart, the two Grammy winners have gone public with their reconciled relationship. Last week, they spent her birthday together in Hawaii and in a recent interview withRolling Stone, she opened up about getting back together with him.
"When you add up the pieces from the outside, it's not the cutest puzzle in the world," Rihanna says. "You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know. But it's different now. We don't have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about sh--. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."
Do you think this week's "SVU" is based on Rihanna and Chris Brown? Sound off in the comments!
