Tablets demand love too! 50,000 apps are now available for the Microsoft Surface tablet

Apps added yesterday to the Windows Store

The latest count shows that there are now 50,000 apps in the Windows Store which means that you can now load up your Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro with some of the latest and greatest apps. An average of 279 apps a day has been added to the store during the current month. That makes March the first month in sometime to show an increase in app submissions over the prior month. For example, back in November there were 468 new apps a day being added to the store.

In order to spur the development of new apps, which we all know makes a device more attractive to the consumer, Microsoft is offering developers $100 for each app submitted to both the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Store. There is a limit though, as the Redmond based software giant has a cap at 10 apps per OS for a total of $2,000. And Mister Softy, as the company is called on Wall Street because of the MSFT ticker symbol, is giving developers a full 10% higher revenue split at 80%/20% than what they earn with iOS or Android.
