In a bid to get valuable feedback to improve the software, Sony is offering to make a Firefox OS ROM available to developers and others with the Sony Xperia E. It turns out that the low-end Android powered device has specs that almost perfectly match the Keon developer device used by developers to work with the new open, web-based operating system.Sony warns that the Firefox OS software is not ready for everyday use. There is also no radio connectivity, since it has yet to be certified for such activity, and phone calls can not be made or received. The SD card reader is unstable and the touch sensitivity on the screen has not been calibrated. But as a web based OS, there already is a well developed ecosystem for apps, which is obviously important for developers.
