LG Optimus G lands in Europe, improved and ready to go

The LG Optimus G has just arrived in Europe. Hopefully, it didn't take a cruise ship to get there. Since the phone has already been out for some time, LG was able to make some solid improvements to the phone for its launch on the continent. First of all, the device comes to Europe powered by Android 4.1.2 which means it has Project Butter to keep the UI lag free, and Google Now to make sure that you receive the information you need, when you need it.

Also included on the European version of the LG Optimus G is the updated version of the QSlide. As you might recall, the feature allows you to use two apps at once with one app becoming more transparent as you use the sliding bar on the screen, and the other app becoming more solid. The updated version of QSlide allows it to work with the browser, memo, calendar and calculator apps besides the video player.

Another new feature is Safety Care which automatically sends text messages to people you select in advance, relaying your current location when you dial emergency services, when the phone is unused for a long period of time, or after you end a call with a specified person. If you don't want the people around you to see who is calling you, Privacy Keeper can be activated. This new feature removes information about a person who is calling you such as the phone number and the picture. Swiping the icon on the screen will allow you to see the information.

Other features include Filmstrip View which makes viewing and deleting certain images much easier. Expandable Notification lets you take action directly from the notification screen. Miss a call? You can return it directly from the missed call notification without having to go to the dialer app. And while the enhanced version of the LG Optimus G invades Europe, we should see the LG Optimus G Pro launch next week in South Korea.

"Since the successful initial launch of Optimus G, LG has continued to improve the smartphone to offer better usability and value for our customers. We’re excited to be bringing to Europe the improved Optimus G, our most powerful Quad-Core device optimized for 4G LTE networks."-Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company
