Kristen Wiig Joins 'Anchorman' Sequel

'Bridesmaids' comedian signs on as possible love interest for Steve Carell, according to reports.

As a wise bartender who looks suspiciously like Machete once told legendary newsman Ron Burgundy, "The times are changing. Ladies can do stuff now." And as anyone familiar with the names Gilly, Vicky St. Elmo and Target Lady already know, there is no lady who can do stuff quite like Kristen Wiig.
The entire Channel Four news team is about to find out exactly what Wiig is capable of, as the "Saturday Night Live" veteran joins the cast of"Anchorman: The Legend Continues." Wiig's casting in the upcoming Paramount comedy sequel was long rumored, but director Adam McKay has now confirmed the news as official.
Anchorman 2
"Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2," the filmmaker revealed on Twitter on Monday (February 4). "Cannonball!"
The news was further corroborated by Channel Four's co-anchor Veronica Corningstone — or, more accurately, actress Christina Applegate, who chimed in with a tweet of her own: "Woohoo! That's so great."
Wiig's participation in the next chapter of Ron Burgundy's life dates back to rumors that ran throughout 2012. According to most reports, Wiig would sign on as a new love interest for Brick Tamland, the news organization's mentally deficient meteorologist with a brain of mush and a heart of gold. Can Wiig prove compelling enough to break up Brick's infatuation with household items? Or perhaps she's on board to play the true love of Brick's life — a lamp?
Until we know more about the plot of "Anchorman 2" and the character Wiig has signed onto play, we can only speculate as to how it'll all pan out. For now, we're happy enough to know that the key players from the original — Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner — are all back in action with some brilliant new blood in tow.
