Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 leaks out with benchmarks, iPad mini competitor coming at MWC?

Samsung is Samsung because of being able to pull things like this, this fast - ladies and gents, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has surfaced in the rumor mill and it looks like a perfect rival to the 7.9-inch iPad mini

It took Samsung only two months after the launch of the iPad mini in November to come up with an 8-inch tablet of its own and the Galaxy Note 8.0 could get an official unveiling as early as the end of February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Here is what the expected Galaxy Note 8.0 is said to look like in terms of specifications:
Code name: Kona
Platform: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
Official name: GALAXY Note 8.0 (3G, Wi-Fi)
Product codes: GT-N5100, GT-N5110
Battery: 4,600 mAh
Dimensions: 211.3 × 136.3 × 7.95 mm , 330 grams
Display: 8.0-inch 1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD)
Processor: 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4412
Cameras: 5-Megapixel rear, 1.3-megapixel front
Internal storage: 16/32GB (optional) + microSD (up to 32GB)
RAM: 2GB
Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS
GSM networks: EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) HSPA+21.1Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps (850/900/1900/2100)

And since this is a Note device, expect to see the S Pen and all the functionality coming with it.

What’s most interesting, is that SamMobile points out that this should be a cheap alternative to the iPad mini, and if Samsung manages to price this low enough, we can see Apple having one more reason to be worried.

The existence of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is of course not officially confirmed by the Korean company, but judging by the overall good track record of SamMobile where the rumor originates from, there are good chances to soon see this device. We've also seen numerous leaks of the device under its GT-N5100 codename with the first leaks being from around October.

Once again, we are seeing Samsung being Samsung, extremely quickly reacting to what it sees as successful devices. If it manages to stay away from lawsuits here, there is plenty of reasons to get excited, just take a look at the first leaked benchmark results right below.
