Is Britney Spears Losing Her 'X Factor' Gig?

Britney Spears

According to Us Weekly, the pop star won't be renewed for season three.

After more than a decade of Britney Spears the pop star, we had just started to get used to Britney Spears the singing-competition judge. But that new career path might have just been a short detour: Us Weekly is reporting that Spears will be fired from "The X Factor" after only one season on the panel.
"Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working," an insider told the magazine.
Britney Spears Calls 'X Factor' Gig 'Refreshing'
The pop princess joined the show in May after months of rumors about who would replace season-one castoffs Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. It now seems Spears is facing a similar fate, reportedly because fellow judge and show co-creator Simon Cowell thought he didn't get enough bang from her record-setting $15 million paycheck. "He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney," the source said.

When the Britney rumors were floating around in the spring, Cowell made it very clear he was very interested in the iconic singer joining the panel. "I think it would be a coup," he said. "I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to."
Not fascinating enough, apparently. Spears kept things pretty simple, whether she was giving a positive or negative critique. But if Cowell was hoping for shaved-head-era antics, he was surely disappointed.
When season two wrapped up last week, Spears' contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar made the top three but ended up losing the $5 million recording contract to country family man Tate Stevens.
