The other day, we passed along the rumor that Samsung was planning on using a 5 inch screen for the Samsung Galaxy S IV with resolution of 1080p. If that sounds familiar, that is because it is the same specs as the screen used on the HTC DROID DNA. That means it will have an outrageous 441ppi pixel density, more than 100ppi above the pixel density on the Apple iPhone 5 and nearly 100ppi above the 342ppi on the HTC 8X.

According to a report out of Korea, Samsung has been struggling to mass produce these displays because of the evaporation process technology that it uses. Samsung Display is trying to obtain advanced LITI technology from 3M that allows OLED material to be more smoothly printed on glass. Those with knowledge of the situation say that Samsung is still having difficulties with the technology. Blue-colored materials are slowing down Samsung's mass production of the displays.

The source says that due to these problems, Samsung might not be able to release the device using the panel (purportedly the Samsung Galaxy S IV) on time. Speculation is that the next Galaxy S smartphone will be launched sometime in the second quarter of 2013.
