Verizon Wireless has already broken down its quarterly financials, and now the carrier announced it has sold 6.8 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2012.
3.1 million of them were iPhones (up from 2.7 million in Q2), and the majority of those iPhones were older models. Still, 21% were the iPhone 5 and that’s a pretty good percentage given that the new iPhone only sold for just over a week in the third quarter.
Still, interestingly enough, Verizon sold more Android smartphones than iPhones in this third quarter. That’s probably mostly due to the Samsung Galaxy S III, we’d guess.
The U.S. biggest carrier also said that its 4G LTE network now covers 250 million people in 419 markets across the States.
