didn't seem right to call the application "the most powerful mapping service ever" on its website. So Apple erased those words, replacing them with the statement, "All in a beautiful vector-based interface that scales and zooms with ease." After all, how could Apple claim that its mapping service is the most powerful when it currently recommends that those rockin' iOS 6 use competing mapping services for the time being.
Surely 'The Great iOS 6 Mapping Disaster of 2012" will eventually fade from memory the same way that Antennagate and the left-handed death grip did. But for now, Apple is trying to turn the heat off Apple Maps until it re-launches it. With word that Apple is hiring Google Maps veterans, we would expect Apple to stick the necessary personnel into a room and lock the door until Apple Maps is bullet-proof.
