Windows Phone may have a couple gaps when it comes to available applications, but Netflix is not one of them. Netflix has been available pretty much since Windows Phone 7 made its debut and while it has not been updated as often as its Android or iOS companion apps, it is a better option than what BlackBerry users have, which is no Netflix app.However, that makes the less frequent updates the Windows Phone app does get all the more substantial.
Recently updated to version 3.0.0.1, Netflix now supports a double-wide Live Tile as well as full HD video on a 720p screen. That means nicer images for folks using a Windows Phone 8X by HTC, Nokia Lumia 920 or Samsung ATIV S.
Of the two, the HD playback is the big ticket since the double-wide Live Tile does not do anything, well, “live.” It just sits there. The HD playback on these devices will probably overshadow that for now. It would be cool if the Live Tile gave a summary of recently watched movies or something though.
