HTC Desire P is official, to launch in Taiwan

First the good news: that HTC Desire P, rumors about which have been floating around for a while, is now finally official. As expected, it is a mid-range Android device. The bad news, however, is that the smartphone may never launch outside of the Asian market.

Judging by what is listed on its specs sheet, the HTC Desire P is just a variant of the One SV with no 4G LTE connectivity. The smartphone comes with a dual-core MSM8225 SoC by Qualcomm running at 1GHz, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of expandable, on-board storage. There's a fairly spacious 4.3-inch screen on its front, but with a rather low resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The main camera, equipped with an LED flash and BSI sensor,  offers 8MP of resolution.

Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom will be the first carrier to start offering the HTC Desire P at a price of about $365. Whether the handset will ever be released in other markets remains to be seen.

Thanks for the tip!
