Nokia Lumia 520 and 720 prices and release dates revealed for India

Nokia’s newest additions to the Lumia lineup which made a memorable debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, are finding their way around the world.

The Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 are entry-level and mid-level devices respectively and will be well suited to the Indian market. Sources are indicating that the Lumia 520 will be making its debut in India before the end of March.

The Lumia 520, being the entry-level Windows Phone in the stable, gives up surprisingly little, especially for a device that will retail for a reasonable ₹11,599 ($213). The 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor will have no problems handling Windows Phone 8. The native 8GB of storage is expandable via microSD another 64GB.

The Lumia 720 should be available on April 27th and will retail for ₹17,000 ($312). That seems to be a reasonable price for this caliber of handset, with a more capable camera (6.7MP vs. 5MP) and NFC capabilities. The Lumia 720 also has a front facing camera and will support wireless charging.

Of course the real allure of Nokia Windows Phones are the Nokia experience apps, which are also mostly available across the Windows Phone ecosystem under the HERE brand. Nokia devices have good build quality to them though and the various colors offer a personalization motif where the OS is not quite as flexible.

Both Lumias are listed as “coming soon” on Nokia’s India page and they will be joining the venerable Lumia 920, 820 and 620.  It looks like Nokia is well positioned to take India by storm.
