With recent talk that Windows Phone devices do better in the low to mid-range area of the smartphone market, another OEM is negotiating with Microsoft to manufacture Windows Phone handsets. Based in China, Phicomm wants to be the next new Windows Phone producer. But negotiations are just starting says Phicomm Europe’s Martin Klinger, which means that it still could be some time before Phicomm branded WP phones hit the market. The company's specialty is low to mid-range models. If it does come to an agreement with Microsoft, Phicomm will probably produce models similar in specs and pricing to the low-end Huawei Ascend W1, which was the first Windows Phone model from country-mate Huawei.Phicomm's current flagship model is the i813 and runs on Android 4.0.4. like all of their other current handsets. The device offers a 5.3 inch screen with qHD resolution, uses dual-SIM cards and features a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor under the hood. 768MB of RAM is on board and 4GB of native storage is included with a microSD slot available to increase storage. The company also produces a tablet powered by a NVIDIA Tegra processor.
Phicomm sells its phones under its name everywhere but Germany. In that country, they will use a distributor with one name mentioned being Conrad Electronics.
