LG has sold 10 million LTE handsets around the globe

LG has sold 10 million smartphones with LTE support
LG announced on Sunday that it has sold 10 million LTE enabled phones. Considering thatSamsung has sold well over 30 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S III and expects to sell 100 million units of the sequel, 10 million units seems a bit light. But that is double the amount that LG announced in August and the Korean manufacturer has just released its flagship model, the LG Optimus Gin 50 more countries.

LG is looking to double its market share in the LTE supported smartphone market and plans to introduce a number of new devices in both established and emerging markets. The LG Optimus G Pro will be the sequel to the manufacturer's current flagship model, and LG just introduced the LG Optimus F7 and LG Optimus F5 at MWC.

"Aggressive pushing forward with 4G LTE technology allows LG satisfy the needs of consumers and is a huge factor in our growing success in global LTE smartphone sales. Having established ourselves as a major industry player, we will continue to expand our footprint in the global LTE market with a wider range of differentiated, high quality LTE smartphones."-Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO, LG Mobile Communications Company

According to Strategy Analytics, global shipments of 4G LTE smartphones in 2013 will reach 275 million units.
