Lenovo S920, with 5.3 inch screen, ready for Chinese launch on April 8th

The three major Chinese handset manufacturers have basically been trying to build more high-end models which makes the Lenovo S920 an interesting unit for the company. We first feasted our eyes on this handset nearly two weeks ago when a leak allowed us to get a look at it. Starting with the 5.3 inch 720p display (with a thin bezel) and the quad-core 1.2GHZ MediaTek processor, it sounds really good. But for some reason, Lenovo decided to go with 1GB of RAMinstead of 2GB of RAM that has become the standard on top-shelf models. 

Another place where we could see a problem is with the 2250mAh battery which will have to power up the rather large screen. A larger capacity cell might have been better suited for the task. Did we mention the 16GB of native storage that can be expanded using the microSD slot? And the phone has back and front-facing cameras of 8MP and 2MP respectively. One place where we have to give kudos to Lenovo is with its decision to go with Android 4.2 out of the box.

The Lenovo S920 is expected to launch in China on April 8th for the equivalent of $350 USD, which is not bad considering that this is an off-contract price. With all of the features that the Samsung GALAXY Note II offers, we wouldn't call this a replacement for that phablet, but for those in China, it seems like a decent value for the price.
