Google's Eric Schmidt says Chrome and Android will stay separate, but more 'commonality' is on tap

Google's Eric Schmidt said today in an interview that contrary to popular rumormongering, its Chrome OS, and Android, will remain separate projects, despite Chrome's chief taking over the mobile OS in the place of Andy Rubin, who is moving to top secret projects. 

He said, however, that we might be seeing a lot more "commonality" between Chrome and Android down the road.

Google's Chairman also mentioned that selling almost half of his Google stake while the stock price is so high doesn't mean that he is leaving for a government job, as speculated. "Google is my home," he said, dispelling the rumors that the Obama administration wants to tap him for a Trade Secretary position.
