For the sixth consecutive year, Apple has been named the most admired company by Fortune Magazine. Voting was done by 3,800 directors and executives, and while the recent decline in the company's stock price was mentioned by Fortune, the company is still considered to be turning out "prestige devices." Apple finished ahead of Google with Amazon, Coca-Cola and Starbucks rounding out the top-ten. Despite Apple being criticized recently for its lack of innovation, Apple also was on top of the list of companies admired for their innovation. Amazon and Google finished second and third respectively. Chipmaker Qualcomm was also on that list.
For the second consecutive year, and for the third time out of the last four years, Verizon was named the most admired company in the telecommunications sector by executives and directors in the same sector. Big Red finished first in four categories out of nine: innovation, social responsibility, quality of management and quality of products/services.

The lists will be published in the March 18th issue of Fortune, which will be at newsstands next week.
