Eric Schmidt hints that Google Now for iOS is up to Apple

Google Now pushes out timely information
Google Now pushes out timely information
The other day, we passed along a video that was discovered on YouTube promoting Google Now for iOS devices. The speculation that the service, which pushes timely information to users when it is needed, is headed to the Apple App Store appears to be legit. At the Google Big Tent Summit in India, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt was asked by Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief of The Guardian, whether Google Now will run on his Apple iPhone. Schimdt's response was that the approval to have Google Now available for iOS is a decision that Apple will have to make. Schmidt noted that Apple either approves or disapproves apps for the App Store and that "some of them they approve and some of them they don’t."

Google Now is Google's answer to Siri, but unlike Apple's voice-activated service, it sends out information you need, when you need it. For example, Google Now will send out traffic information for your daily commute before you leave for the office. Current weather conditions and a forecast can be pushed to your device in advance of your appointment so you know how to dress. If approved by Apple, the application would be available via Google Search with a swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
