After 17 years with Sony, global marketing head Steve Walker is leaving, but not before he finishes perhaps his most important task. With Walker exiting at the end of March, he will still be in charge of getting the international version of the Sony Xperia Z off to a good start. If last month's CES show is any indication, this is basically a model that can speak for itself with a 5 inch FHD screen, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 13.1MP camera on back, and the waterproofing which was displayed throughout CES.
Walker joined Ericsson in the 1990's and took over the top marketing spot in March 2011. Last year, he was in charge of re-branding the company from Sony Ericsson to Sony Mobile after the Japanese tech and media giant bought out its partner. He will replaced by Jacob Stein. The new kid will be coming aboard at a time when Sony is being challenged hard by the Chinese duo of ZTE and Huawei.
