There is a saying that goes something like, "Men plan and God laughs". That seems to have been the case with the expected launch in India of the entry-level Nokia Lumia 620. Last month, at the same time that the high-end Nokia Lumia 920 and the mid-range Nokia Lumia 820 launched in the country, we were told to expect the Nokia Lumia 620 to be released in India in February. But a Nokia spokesperson now says that the model won't come to the country until the first week of March.
No reason was given for the delay, but the spokesman made it sound like the first week of March was now written in stone. And while the Nokia spokesperson could not give a price for the device, sources are expecting it to retail at a price of 20,000 Rupee ($370.49 USD). The phone will be available in magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black.
With smartphones owning a market share in India of less than 10%, the country has plenty of room for growth in smartphone sales. Besides, India is one of the fastest growing emerging markets. Recent statistics show that Apple grew its business there by a staggering 400% in the last quarter. With Apple beginning to pick up market share in the country, Nokia cannot afford to have an affordable entry-level model like the Nokia Lumia 620 delayed for too long.
