Microsoft offers Surface Complete, a $99 warranty to protect your investment

Drop your Microsoft Surface RT in the toilet? Did a seagull swoop down, grab your Microsoft Surface Pro and drop in on hard concrete? If you have Surface Complete, you're covered. The $99 warranty is available from Microsoft online or at Microsoft's retail stores and it covers everything over a period of two years. As we told you recently, the teardown of the Microsoft Surface Pro shows that the slate is nearly impossible to repair with the tablet scoring a "1" out of a possible 10 points on iFixit's repairability scale.

Protect your Microsoft Surface RT with Surface Complete

Considering that you are paying anywhere from $500 to $1,000 for your Microsoft Surface tablet, you are not going to be too quick to buy a new one if it is damaged. Spending $99 for Surface Complete might be the best money you shell out this year. If you bought your tablet from a Microsoft retail store, you have 45 days from the time you purchase it to decide whether or not to purchase Surface Complete. 

One last note, but a very important one. Those who purchase the Microsoft Surface from Best Buy, Staples are another retail store will not be automatically covered. One interpretation of the fine print is that a Surface purchased from a Best Buy or Staples store could be covered by the warranty if its condition is verified first at a Microsoft Store.
