The 'American Idol' judge reveals she's been hitting 'secret locations' to finish up the release.
Mariah Carey may have taken her fans "Almost Home" on her new song off the "Oz the Great and Powerful" soundtrack, but they may soon be transported to Camp Mariah very soon, so to speak. The singer, who is currently working on her next studio album, has revealed that she wants to drop her next solo LP "ASAP."
"I'm really working hard," Carey admitted exhaustedly to Ryan Seacrest before joking about her longtime collaborator and fellow "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson. "Randy, he hasn't even been in the studio in like months to hear what I have. He doesn't know every detail of this because I've been working with a bunch of people in secret locations."
Fans got an idea of what she might be cooking up for the release last year when she dropped "Triumphant," for which she recruited Rock Ross and Meek Mill. No release date has been given for when fans will get to hear more from that release.
But, when MTV News spoke to her producer Bryan-Michael Cox last year, he noted that the diva has been working hard on the reported 2013 release for a really long time.
"She was committed to making it before she got pregnant. Then she got pregnant and she took the time off," he said last August. "Then after she came back, we started really vibing again and we picked up right where we left off. I just feel like between Jermaine [Dupri], myself and her, we came up with a few things that [are] really, really a solid body of work."
Until that album hits the streets, fans can look forward to the release of the "Almost Home" video, directed by David LaChapelle, which is slated to drop on March 8, the same day "Oz" hits theaters.
