Huawei Ascend W1 visits the FCC en route to Net10

It looks like Huawei’s Windows Phone offering will finally make an appearance in the US. The entry level Windows Phone 8 handset showed the FCC the goods bearing TracFone branding.

TracFone is feature phone centric though whereas the company’s Net10 brand offers all sorts of recognizable smartphones, like the Samsung Galaxy S III, and Apple iPhone 4. So, that is a fine place for Huawei’s Ascend W1 to make an appearance.

The Ascend W1 is a nice little package. The 4-inch screen and overall a size fits comfortably in the hand. It has a decent sized 1,950mAh battery too. The 1.2GHz dual-core processor will deliver a clean Windows Phone experience. The device does not support NFC or wireless charging, nor does it have a front facing camera. However, for the market segment this device would target those not critical features.

For those on a budget who have wanted a Windows Phone experience, the Huawei Ascend W1 looks like it will fit the bill.P ricing and release dates are not known right now. If you are still thinking about it, check out our hands-on pictures and video. Remember, all Windows Phones have access to Nokia Drive+ now, so this entry level Windows Phone will cover all your bases and give you a top-rate turn-by-turn navigation feature to go with it.
