BlackBerry Q10 available for pre-register at TELUS

Yesterday, the all-touch BlackBerry Z10 launched in Canada, which incidentally is the home country of BlackBerry. Eyes are now focused on the BlackBerry Q10, which is the BlackBerry 10 handset that comes equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard. This model will now launch in mid-April at the earliest and the following month at the latest. While TELUS doesn't have a price yet for the phone, it is taking contact information for the phone from those who "pre-register". Once the carrier learns the exact launch date for the model, it will notify those who pre-register the phone with them.

The BlackBerry Q10
Fellow Canadian carrier Rogers also started accepting pre-registration for the phone last week. Some have criticized the company for releasing the all-touch model first before the Q10 considering that BlackBerry has been well known for its outstanding physical keyboards. CEO Thorsten Heins gave two reasons behind the decision. One was that the Z10 was a more complex phone to make and so more time went into it and it was finished first. The other reason was that with Android and iOS touchscreen models being used by enterprise users who are allowed to BYOD, BlackBerry will be able to get back into the ballgame in the workplace. Additionally, the new BlackBerry Balance allows users to use one device for work and play with a company's IT department able to block certain apps from being downloaded. There is no such restriction for those downloading apps while using their phone at home.
