According to these same sources, the PC manufacturers that have done the best in the smartphone arena are ASUS and Lenovo and the former is expected to introduce an updated version of the ASUS Padfone at MWC in Barcelona later this month. The ASUS Padfone 2offers a 4.7 inch screen with a 720p screen and a pixel density of 312ppi. Under the hood is a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor with an Adreno 320 GPU crunching the graphics. There is 2GB of RAM on board and 16GB of native storage but this cannot be expanded because of the lack of a microSD slot. A 2130mAh cell powers the phone. On bac,k a 13MP camera captures video in 1080p at 30 fps and the front facing shooter weighs in at 1.3MP. Android 4.1.1 is installed out of the box following an update last month to Jelly Bean
The ASUS Padfone 2 becomes the engine driving the 10.1 inch tablet allowing you to go from 4.7 inches to 10.1 inches and back again. Because the sales total is not coming from ASUS, we need to take the figures with a healthy degree of skepticism. If legitimate, it would indicate that there is a market for this type of device. We would then expect to see ASUS either expand distribution of the ASUS Padfone 2, or introduce the aforementioned new version of the phone next month at MWC, or both.
