One of the more annoying omissions from the Windows Phone Store with the release of Windows Phone 8 has been Photosynth, Microsoft's 360 degree panorama photo taking app. The app had been available on Windows Phone 7.5 devices, but didn't make the jump to WP8, and the Photosynth team is finally explaining what went wrong, and has confirmed that a WP8 version of the app is just "weeks away".
According to a tweet sent out by the Photosynth Team today, the app "slipped due to problems with drivers on a few important phones". Of course, there aren't that many Windows Phone 8 devices on the market yet, so "a few" phones would add up to a majority of the ecosystem. Still, the issues should be worked out soon, and the app should be on its way within "weeks".
Photosynth is an impressive app, much like Google's Photosphere, but of course it pre-dated Photosphere by quite a while. It will be interesting to see some Photosynths with the very nice camera found on the Nokia Lumia 920.
