Ne-Yo Brags 'Y'all Are Late' On Songwriter Sia

'She's been incredible for a long time,' he tells MTV News of Australian singer, who worked on 'Let Me Love You' and Rihanna's 'Diamonds.'

If you turn on the radio right now there's a good chance you might hear something that singer/songwriter Sia had her pretty little hands in. And, if you didn't know who Sia is, 2012 certainly gave those unfamiliar with the Australian songstress a lesson in her strength as a writer and vocalist.
And while the last year served as an awakening to Sia's music, Ne-Yo notes he's been a fan for a long time — you've just been missing out.

"You know what? Well, for me personally I've been a fan of Sia for a long time," he told MTV News of Sia, who has been singing and writing since the '90s. "From Zero 7 to Some People Have Real Problems, these are her albums and people that she worked with before she got popular, so to speak."
Ne-Yo teases Beyoncé's 2013 album!
Here's a quick course in Sia: Among her list of 2012 accomplishments are co-writing credits on Ne-Yo's "Let Me Love You," Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Christina Aguilera's Lotus track "Blank Page." Her vocals appeared on Flo Rida's hit "Wild Ones" (which she helped co-write as well) and on David Guetta's "Titanium," laying down her massive vocals over his production.
"She's been incredible for a long time," he added, noting just what makes her so killer to work with. "Her mastery of melody, from just the way that she works, her words and phrases, it's been incredible. And people are just now catching on! Y'all are late; everybody's late. It's been that way."
Ne-Yo's big plans for 2013!
Rarely does Ne-Yo let anyone assist him on penning tracks, but he couldn't resist the allure of Sia when he sat down to record "Let Me Love You."
" 'Let Me Love You' is that song means a lot to me. That's one of the very few co-writes I've ever done," he explained. "It was an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone for a minute and just really try something new in regards to working other writers. Shout out to Sia who also had an incredible 2012."
In the end, Sia and Ne-Yo crafted the ultimate feel-good anthem and he couldn't be prouder of their work on it.
"Aside from the fact that the song is about the importance of loving yourself, which I felt was something that [is] few and far between these days. With everyone getting plastic surgery this and cosmetic surgery that and just not understanding that you being who you are is your perfection," he said. "Everybody's searching for this unreal perfection and it's kind of sad, so I feel like the song came along absolutely at the right time."
