Jailbroken Microsoft Surface RT gets a taste of an Apple OS from the '90s

And so, it has begun. Only hours after a hassle-free jailbreak solution was released for Windows RT, people have started experimenting with running unsigned apps on the Microsoft Surface tablet. One of them is Steven Troughton-Smigh who you might have heard of before. His hack? Well, he decided to try running the Apple Rhapsody operating system dating from the '90s, just because Windows 95 felt too boring for him. And it looks like Steve succeeded.

Sure, it appears that the software is running in an emulator of some kind, but that's not too important. What truly matters is that successfully jailbreaking Windows RT might open the floodgates for a whole new community of homebrew software developers. This hack goes to show how much untapped potential there is in Microsoft's OS, and those with the right coding skills might very well make it available to a broader range of users.

Is there any application that you'd like to see running on Windows RT and the Microsoft Surface? Let us know down in the comments!
