Google campus gets new Chrome Bugdroid statue

As we all know, a new Android statue on the Google campus tends to signify a new version of Android being released. There are already statues for Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean; and, today the Google campus got a new Chrome Bugdroid statue.

We're not sold that this means anything. It could indicate a deeper connection between Chrome OS and Android on the horizon, but we're not ready to claim that just yet, mostly because such a connection doesn't make much sense. There's no reason to combine Chrome OS and Android if Chrome is already the default browser in new versions of Android. Also, the statue isn't on the lawn with the others, and has no connection to desserts, so it seems unlikely that it is all that connected to the new Android version statue set.

Still, it's a nice statue, and set in a very interesting spot coming out of the side of building 45. The other Android statues are on the lawn in front of building 44. If it does mean anything more, it seems likely that we'll have to wait until Google I/O to find out more.
