Yota Phone dual-screen with e-Ink Android smartphone gets a full video demo

Yota Phone dual-screen with e-Ink Android smartphone gets a full video demo
Just two days ago, we told you about the Yota Phone, a different smartphone featuring both a traditional HD display on the front and instead of a plastic rear panel - an e-ink display. The idea is simple - maximize battery life. Since often things we want to check on our phone are the time, weather and other information usually displayed on the lockscreen, Yota has found a way to simply mirror this to the e-ink screen, thus saving you a battery hungry wake-up call to the big color display.

The Yota Phone also promises to come with an e-reader app mirroring for the e-ink display so you can read books on the secondary, back display without waking up the main screen.

The e-ink screen is not touch sensitive, only the bottom part interacts with touch which seems like a practical solution since you’d be holding it anyway.

While nothing about the design and even the name of the Yota Phone is not final, the hardware that it will have probably won’t change from what’s announced. Yota plans to bring this with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, 2GB of RAM and as much as 64GB of internal storage. Take a look at how the device looks right now, demonstrated by one of Yota’s own managers.
