The Samsung ATIV S may have been the first publicly announced Windows Phone 8 handset, but it surely isn't the first to hit the shelves. Both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 have been on sale since late October, while the HTC Windows Phone 8X was released almost a month ago. The launch of Samsung's offering, on the other hand, has been delayed several times already.
Fortunately, those who are still waiting patiently for the Samsung ATIV S to arrive might be able to get one very soon. An anonymous tipster reports that Bell retail stores in Canada have received ATIV S dummy units, meaning that the real deal is surely on its way. The carrier will be offering the smartphone for $80 on a three-year contract.
Some markets in Europe, however, are still not expected to get the Samsung ATIV S before January of 2013. In the U.K., the smartphone is said to be coming on or around December 10. Several online retailers are already accepting pre-orders, offering the device for about $600 to $650 off contract. In the U.S., Verizon is expected to get the Samsung Odyssey before the year is out. This smartphone is believed to be a variant of the ATIV S tailored to the carrier's preferences.
