Only in the UK: subscribe to The Times and get a Google Nexus 7 on the cheap

While some digital newspapers are discontinuing their services due to low consumer interest, others are looking for innovative ways to boost the number of their online readers. Popular British newspaper The Times just made its Digital Pack subscription a lot more tempting by offering a cheap Google Nexus 7 to anyone who opts in.

The 32GB model of the tablet can be bought for just £50 – a quarter of what the device costs in the U.K., after signing up for an 18-month subscription. Subscribers can either pay £17.33 monthly for the duration of their agreement, or save a few bucks by paying for £299 up front for the whole pack. The Times Digital Pack provides access to the media's premium online content through its website or its mobile application. 

So yeah, you'll still be paying a pretty penny on a regular basis for the next 18 months, but in exchange you'll be getting a great tablet at a fraction of its original price, all the while enjoying The Times' quality journalism.
