NOVELTY viral track ‘One Pound Fish’ has made the UK Top 40.
Although William Hill had given odds of 33/1 for the track to become Christmas number one, the song entered the charts at number 29.
“‘One Pound Fish’ enters the Official UK Top 40 today at No 29! Amazing achievement. Many congrats to Shahid and thanks to Reggie Yates for having us on Radio 1 for the chart show,” said the singer’s publicist Samir Ahmed.
Former market trader Muhammad Shahid Nazir shot to fame after a video of him selling fish went viral, with his catchphrase call out: “Come on ladies/Come on ladies/One pound fish.”
The X Factor contestant performed the single on Saturday (December 22) at West Ham’s Upton Park stadium.
“‘One Pound Fish’ at half time at West Ham vs Everton! 35,000 people! Hammers fans love him... local celeb!” Ahmed announced.
