Nokia denies it is looking at Android

Nokia denies it is looking at AndroidForget it, forget it, forget it. No, no, no! Nokia's Media Relations fellow, Doug Dawson (no, he did not host Family Feud, that was RICHARD Dawson) emphatically put the kibosh on rumors that Nokia was taking a look at building hardware for the Android OS. What started the gossip was a job post in LinkedIn by the Finnish based handset manufacturer, seeking a "Principal Software Engineer, Embedded Linux Middleware," hiring someone to oversee "embedded Linux device software and hardware drivers for our exciting new products". Considering that the only Linux based major operating systems are Android and webOS, you can see how it would appear that Nokia had taken a sudden interest in the green robot.

On the other hand, we did point out that the listing could be for software engineers to help build a version of Nokia's HERE mapping app to Android. And as it turns out, that is exactly what Mr. Dawson revealed in a tweet that he send out on Sunday. Dawson said that the job listing is related to HERE Maps support for both Android and iOS and other platforms.

So all of you who had been hoping for an Android powered Nokia phone, forget it, at least for now. Nokia seems pretty content with Windows Phone, especially in light of the reception that the Nokia Lumia 920 has received so far.
