Huawei Ascend Mate leaks again, comparing its 6.1 inch screen to stable mate Huawei Ascend D2

Last weekend, we showed you the excitement that took over a Huawei store in Guangzhou, China when company chairman Richard Yu pulled out the Huawei Ascend Mate to show off the device. Quickly, a throng surrounded the executive, all dying to get a peek at the 6.1 inch handset prior to its appearance at next month's CES 2013 in Las Vegas.

The majority of us were not lucky enough to have been in the Huawei store at the right time to see the Huawei Ascend Mate in person. But we can take a look at the device in a series of new pictures that show the Ascend Mate next to another new Huawei model, the Huawei Ascend D2.  

The specs on the device are still being guessed at, but will be released at CES 2013. At this point, speculation points to a quad-core 1.8GHz processor, most likely developed in house, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera and a 4000mAh battery. In other words, besides the larger screen, the Huawei Ascend Mate specs are what you would expect to see on a 2013 high-end phone.

An ad for the Huawei Ascend Mate also was leaked, making it clear that the Chinese manufacturer has been targeting Samsung with this device all along. The ad shows the outline of the 6.1 inch screen compared with the outline of a 5.5 inch screen. Hmm. Wonder what device that is supposed to be. Earlier this month, Huawei Senior Vice President Yu Chengdong told prospective buyers of the Samsung GALAXY Note II to wait for the launch of the Huawei Ascend Mate and he called Samsung's device "grossly overpriced."
