But what about Windows Phone 8? Why doesn't Microsoft's newest smartphone platform support FM radio even though the smartphones it runs on are equipped with the necessary hardware? Speculation has it that developers didn't have enough time to fully develop the FM radio software, so the feature was omitted. But it will allegedly come back after an upcoming Windows Phone 8 update is released, presumably the Apollo+ software update that we heard about recently. Furthermore, it is said that the Bluetooth stack will be upgraded to 4.0 from its current 3.0 version.
But on the other hand, that is just a rumor without much evidence to support it. Microsoft might have decided to simply drop the feature as it is probably rarely used. Speaking of which, would you miss the FM radio in case it totally disappears from smartphones? Let us know by dropping a comment below!
