Dropbox for Windows RT awaiting approval, coming soon

In case Microsoft's very own cloud storage solution SkyDrive doesn't quite cut the mustard for you, worry not as Dropbox for Windows RT and Windows 8 is already on its way. The application – designed in accordance to Microsoft's Modern UI principles, has already been submitted for approval and will be launched as soon as it gets the green light. With its help, users will be given access to files, photos and media files they have stored in their personal Dropbox cloud. The Windows RT version of Dropbox is meant to run on tablets like the Microsoft Surface RT or the Samsung Ativ Tab.

Dropbox, which just recently reached the impressive milestone of 100 million registered users, offers 2GB of free cloud storage space. That allowance, however, can be expanded significantly by inviting your friends over. For example, each new user that you refer gets you 500MB extra. Uploading photos automatically from a mobile device also gives you additional megabytes. 

At this time, there is no word as to whether Dropbox will ever come to Windows Phone. Its arrival on Windows RT, however, might be a hint that the app's makers might launch a Windows Phone version some day. Mobile clients are currently available for the iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry devices.
