The Sundance Film Festival, which will run January 17th through the 27th, has announced that the movie getting the coveted final screening of the festival will be "jOBS," which is the biography starring Ashton Kutcher as the late Steve Jobs. The biography will cover the years 1971 through 2000 and should include the first time he met Stevce Wozniak (played by Book of Mormon's Josh Gad), the creation of Apple, his departure from Apple, and the purchase of NeXT which led right back to his return as Chairman and CEO of the company he co-founded. Jobs' ex-girl friend Chris-Ann Brennan will be played by Ahna O'Reilly and Matthew Modine will play former Apple CEO John Sculley. Bill Gates will be portrayed by an unknown actor.
This movie should not be confused with the film that will be based on Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs. That script is being written by Aaron Sorkin and an early outline reveals that this picture will be broken down into three parts, each showing Jobs backstage before one of his famous product announcements: the original Mac, NeXT, and the Apple iPod. If true, neither movie will delve into the introduction of the Apple iPhone and the changes to the mobile industry that followed its release.
