Apple shoots down idea of a public museum at HQ: were focused on the future, not the past'
Apple’s new spaceship headquarters should open doors in Cupertino in 2016, and computer historian David Greelish, enthusiastic about the event, suggested there is a visitor center and a public museum in the new HQ. Greelish even launched a petition earlier in the year, but it only got the support of 43 people out of the 10,000 goal.

And now Apple’s marketing head Phil Schiller said there won’t be such a museum. Responding to one of Greelish's emails, Schiller said: "We're focused on inventing the future, not celebrating the past. Others are better at collecting, curating and displaying historical items."

"It is not who we are or who we want to be," Schiller stressed.

Interestingly enough, Steve Jobs himself closed a mini Apple museum upon his return, sending all items to Stanford University.

And if we had to look for an example to the opposite, Nokia is among the first names to pop into our minds. The Finns, In stark contrast, are one of the companies that has a public museum with a lot of iconic handsets from the past on display at its headquarters.

What do you think about the idea of having a miniature museum at HQ? Good or just distracting?
