SmartQ X7 rights the Nexus 7 wrongs for $250, plus $20 shipping

SmartQ X7 rights the Nexus 7 wrongs for $250, plus $20 shippingNice gadgets are coming out of China lately, and we don't only mean the big brands assembling their pet projects there. Consider the Xiaomi Mi-Two, or the Oppo Find 5, and now a tablet joins the ranks.

SmartQ X7 is a 7-incher with a price tag $50 above the Nexus 7, but righting some wrongs of Google's signature affordable slate. It has the same 1280x800 screen resolution as the Nexus 7 but a beefed up OMAP4470 dual-core processor, humming at 1.5 GHz.

Not only that, but the SmartQ X7 comes with 2 GB of RAM, and the all-important microSD slot for further storage expansion if needed, unlike the Nexus 7. It also adds HDMI-out port, a rear camera, FM transmitter, and doubles the Nexus 7 storage amount to 16 GB from the onset.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean runs the show, whereas with the Nexus 7 we already have the latest Android 4.2, but the rest of the spec differences surely warrant fifty bucks more. It is available in China as we speak and is 9.5mm thin, weighing slightly less than Google's tablet. SmartQ is seemingly on a roll, as it recently also launched the first tablet with built-in 35 lumen pico projector, the U7.

Shipping to the US will run you another $20-$28, depending whether you want it express or regular mail, but, of course, the warranty situation will be murkier this side of the pond.
