RIM CEO Heins brings a BlackBerry 10 handset courtside

RIM CEO Heins brings a BlackBerry 10 handset courtsideAh! The perks of being a corporate bigwig. RIM CEO Thorsten Heins and Senior Vice President Andrew Bocking not only had two courtside seats to Friday night's Lakers-Suns contest, they also each had a BlackBerry 10 handset. Both were photographed using their device to snap pictures (undoubtedly of Lakers center Dwight Howard) and Heins was even snapped holding a BlackBerry PlayBook.

Considering the fate of some pre-production devices taken out for a spin over the years (Apple iPhone 4,Apple iPhone 4SGoogle Nexus 4), we wonder if Heins and Bocking had the good sense to avoid the local watering holes after the game. After all, the BlackBerry 10 event to introduce the OS and the new handsets, is scheduled for January 30thand the last thing that the RIM executives want is for one of their devices to end up on the floor of a bar.

It would be great if either executive posted the pictures they took during the game on a photo sharing site. Not only would it generate publicity for BlackBerry 10, it would also give us an idea of what to expect from the camera on the upcoming new BlackBerry models.
