U.K. electronics retailer HMV has been running newspaper ads for the Wi-Fi only 32GB Google Nexus 7. The tablet has been released, so there is nothing wrong with that. Where the problem lies is with the ad's statement that the tablet is available with Android 4.2 installed. While we have no doubt that eventually Android 4.2 will be on the tablet, as of right now the latest Android build has not been finalized which means that you won't find it on any Android device at the current time.
The tablet market is so competitive these days that just a slight bit of incorrect information could send sales momentum going another way. So just to be sure, we re-checked the Google Play Store and it still shows Android 4.1 on board the 32GB model of the tablet. Priced at $249, delivery is listed as being in 3 to 5 days after the order is placed. Not that anyone out there needs to be confused some more, but the Wi-Fi + Cellular 32GB model of the Google Nexus 7 will be available November 13th at $299.
And if you're wondering why the RCA dog, in the iconic "His Master's Voice" pose, is on the ad, it is because retailer HMV was once owned by RCA.
