Let's say that you're one of those folks who travel a lot – you
either roam the world looking for geocaches, or that's simply a part of
whatever it is you do for a living. Either way, you're probably
wondering if there's a way to stay connected to the internet even while
traveling.
Then perhaps Globalgig might just do the trick. It is a new roaming service that provides 5GB of data for $49 per month,
meaning you'll be paying less than a penny for each megabyte you
consume. Customers who don't need as much international data can go with
the 1GB package, priced at $25, or get 3 gigs for $40 monthly.
The
fineprint reads, however, that you'll have to buy your own dongle,
which will set you back $119. Moreover, it is worth noting that
Globalgig works only in the U.S., Australia, and the U.K. at this time,
through Sprint, O2, and Optus respectively. Fortunately, we are being
promised that new markets will be covered too in the future, so the
service will also work across parts of Europe and Asia one day.
Globalgig
requires no long-term commitment so anyone who is curious to try it out
can do so without worrying about termination fees or hidden charges.
