Fresh on the heels of learning about Android 4.0 soak testing, and after waiting for what may have felt like years, big red is finally announcing that the Droid Bionic will be upgraded to Android 4.0.4 ICS. The upgrades will be done in phases, and customers should start getting notifications beginning October 19th.
The update to the Bionic includes all the goodness that ICS brought to other devices earlier this year. Also included in the update are SMARTACTIONS, Amazon Kindle, GoTo Meeting and others. The Verizon support page also cites improved performance with AOL email, SMS and Visual Voicemail.
Synchronization with Google Calendar is also improved and users of Mobile Hotspot should expect better data connectivity. All-in-all it is a win for Droid Bionic users who may have wondered if they were being left in gingerbread dust or not.
