Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro hands-on

Back in March of this year, we had the chance to review the Samsung Rugby Smart, which was a rugged Android powered smartphone for AT&T. Now, it seems as though Samsung decided to make good use of its Galaxy moniker, as the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro is in bound for AT&T in the near future bringing along sturdiness and supreme rugged protection to the mix.

As Samsung clearly states, the Galaxy Rugby Pro is the perfect blend of brains and brawns, since it’s packing all the lovable aspects of an Android powered smartphones, while also packing some rugged features. In fact, this can really take a beating because it’s constructed to meet military specification 810g so it’s waterproof, shock resistant, and dust proof.

Now even though it’s a rugged smartphone first and foremost, it’s carrying along some lovely hardware for the ride as well to make it an attractive offering. In addition to its 4.5” WVGA Super AMOLED screen and 4G LTE connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro also benefits with push-to-talk functionality. Therefore, if you plan on using your device in potentially risky situations, this should no doubt be something you want to take into consideration.

Initial standouts with the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro

1. It has that distinct rugged design

Since it’s all about protection with the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro, it doesn’t shock us to find its design catering to that aspect. Sure it’s chunky and all, but regardless of that, you can sleep soundly seeing that its construction is extra sturdy.

2. Talk while it’s raining

With its waterproof aspect, you’ll be able to continue using the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro if you’re outside and it’s raining. To an extent, you can even bring it along into your backyard pool and put it under water for a short period of time without the risk of damage. Of course, that solid latch in the rear ensures that it’s sealed tightly all around.

Call it a rarity, especially when we look over AT&T’s lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro is one of the few smartphones out there that has push-to-talk functionality to keep you in touch with people by simply pressing its dedicated button.
