Samsung Exynos 5250 appears on mysterious Samsung device at benchmark site

Samsung Exynos 5250 appears on mysterious Samsung device at benchmark siteRemember when the Apple iPhone was powered by a single-core 412MHz processor? Or how about those magazine ads AT&T paid for proudly announcing that the BlackBerry Bold 9000 was the fastest 'Berry yet with a single-core 624MHz processor. Time marches on and chps get faster. Back in March, we told you about how the Samsung Exynos 5250 would contain two Cortex-A15 CPU cores and a Mali-T604 GPU. The recently announced Samsung Chromebook will have this silicon under the hood, so we can assume that it is ready to ship. Clocked at 2GHz, the Exynos 5250 would double the performance of A9 chips and perform faster than quad-core chips. At the beginning of the year, we told you how the chip would support screens with resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQXGA).

What got us thinking about the Samsung Exynos 5250 is a mysterious Samsung Android device that recently was spotted at GL Benchmark with the Exynos 5250 doing the heavy lifting. Considering that this will probably be the fastest chip on an Android model when launched on a device, it behooved us to take a long look at the mystery device which does have a model number of GT-B9150. According to SamMobile, the "B" on the mode number indicates a physical QWERTY keyboard. The 672 x 1280 resolution of the device could also indicate that there is a physical keyboard on the unit if it is a phone, or the resolution could just indicate that this is a tablet. Android 4.1 is powering the device either way.

Fans of the side-sliding QWERTY form factor might be hoping that this is the high end model that they have been waiting for for. We have Scooby and the gang checking it out and as long as it's not Old-man Johnson wearing a mask, we should have more information on this device as the year progresses.
