The other day, there was some speculation that besides introducing the Apple iPad mini
at its October 23rd event
, a'refreshed' version of the third generation Apple iPad would be revealed
. That seems more than just a possibility according to 9to5Mac which obtained a list of SKU numbers for the new tablets to be introduced on the 23rd. Half of the Apple iPads listed are the mini variety, while the remaining half are the refreshed full-sized models.
According to the tipsters, the 'refreshed' iPads would be equipped with the new lightning adapter
and there is talk that they would be powered by the A6 chip that runs the Apple iPhone 5. When we told you about the possibility of a 'refreshed' model earlier, we mentioned that it would include LTE support for the U.K's newly launched 4G LTE network. The word now is that there will be global LTE support on the revised unit.
This wouldn't be the first time that Apple has revised the Apple iPad in the middle of its shelf life. This past May, Apple replaced the 45nm A5 chip on the
Apple iPad 2 with the upgraded 32nm A5
and added 2 hours of battery life to the device.
