PowerSkin for Samsung Galaxy S III hands-on
Always striving to find enough battery life to last us throughout the day, we all know way too well how much of a drain it can be for the Samsung Galaxy S III to keep up with our power usage. At times, some owners are left to simply charge their smartphones whenever and wherever as much as possible – to keep them at a good level before calling it in for the day.
Well folks, if you don’t want to be tethered anymore, and prefer something that’ll charge the Samsung Galaxy S III on the go, you might want to check out PowerSkin’s battery case for the handset. Now we’ve checked out many other PowerSkin cases before, and following in traditional form, it combines a ruggedized case with the highly desired longevity of an extended battery.
Priced at $79.99, one might simply stop in their tracks to wonder about it for a moment, but then again, considering that dedicated extended batteries can cost just as much, it’s nice to know that this offers some level of protection to the smartphone too. Just don’t expect the Galaxy S III to have its svelte looks anymore once you’ve decided to use the PowerSkin.
PowerSkin for Samsung Galaxy S III hands-on
1. Chunky to the max
Yes people! There’s no going around this one, but the PowerSkin battery case for the Samsung Galaxy S III turns the super skinny smartphone to one beastly and chunky looking thing. Nearly doubling the size of the handset’s original thickness, there’s no arguing it’s one hefty thing that’ll put a strain in your pockets.
2. Ample protection and clean looks
Since the PowerSkin also doubles as a standard case, its ruggedized feel surely keeps us comforted in knowing that it’ll be protected very well. With its soft touch matte feel, it maintains a uniform clean appearance – while being resilient to dust, debris, smudges, and fingerprints. Although there’s some protection given to the handset, the whole front is left exposed, so you’ll need to provide yourself a screen protector of some kind to cover it.
3. Extended battery life, but it’s not going to double it
Packing a 1,500 mAh battery inside its chassis, it’s not going to be enough to obviously double the handset’s overall battery life – especially when the SGSIII is carrying a 2,100 mAh battery of its own. Regardless of that, it should be sufficient enough to get even the most hungry of power users enough juice to last them throughout the day. Oh yeah, it’s still NFC enabled to allow handset owners to continue using various functions of the handset – like S Beam.
