Motorola releases list of its phones eligible for $100 gift card with trade-in program

Motorola releases list of its phones eligible for $100 gift card with trade-in programOn Friday, we showed you a list of Motorola phones and tablets that have already received Android 4.1 (the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi) or are scheduled to be updated to the OS build. Last month, when Motorola introduced its trio of new DROID RAZR handsets in the U.S., it announced a trade-in program that offered $100 in credit for those who swap a Moto built model from 2011 that will not get updated to Android 4.1. Heck, most of these models won't even see Android 4.0.

The models you must buy to receive the credit include the Motorola ATRIX HDMotorola DROID RAZR MMotorola DROID RAZR HD, Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD, Motorola ELECTRIFY 2and the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE. Motorola says that the $100 could be offered in the form of a Motorola pre-paid Visa card, a Verizon gift card, carrier credit or another equivalent.

Motorola has been criticized by owners of some of the phones eligible for the $100 trade-in offer. While it might be disappointing for owners of these models to be stuck on Android 2.3, it probably beats having to deal with a laggy, buggy Android 4.0.

Motorola will give you $100 for any of these models, toward the purchase of a newer handset that supports Android 4.1
